The father of injured Karns City quarterback Mason Martin has provided another update on his son’s condition.
Denny Martin said in a Facebook post that his son has been testing negative for an infection he had for about a week. Mason is scheduled to have surgery for a new shunt later this week, but doctors would like him to test negative for the infection for 10 days before surgery.
The new shunt will take excess fluid and drain it into another body part.
Denny described the situation as “frustrating” because Mason’s only issues are health related.
Mason is still receiving care in the intensive care unit, which his father says has put his rehabilitation efforts on pause.
He continues to ask for prayers and support.
