The family of Karns City quarterback Mason Martin has shared another positive update on his recovery.
The family said in a social media post that Mason is in a state of “responsive unconsciousness,” which means that even though he is unconscious, he is making movements along with reacting to sound and touch. He also has only needed to be on a ventilator for four hours per day in the last three days.
Rehab doctors are preparing for the next step in recovery, and with some recent testing, doctors have been able to plan for which specific areas of the brain will be focused on during rehab.
After previous stressful weeks, the Martin family is just happy Mason is making strides to recovery.
“Now we are shedding tears of joy and happiness rather than pain and heartache. Day by day he’s coming back to us.”
