Maxine I. Cooper, 94, Formerly of East Butler, PA, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 22, 2023, under the care of the staff at Concordia at the Orchard.
Maxine was born on July 19, 1929, in Butler, Pennsylvania, to the late Roy and Elizabeth (McMillen) Cochran, Maxine was a beacon of strength, resilience, and compassion. In her 94 years, she touched countless lives with her vibrant spirit, warmth, and infectious laughter.
Maxine graduated from Butler High School in 1947. On September 11, 1948, Maxine married her husband, the late Alfred (Ed) Cooper, who passed away on December 19, 1985, and together they built a beautiful life that was centered on family and friendships. For many years, Maxine worked in the Tape Core Department as a dedicated laborer, retiring from Magnetics, Inc., in East Butler, in 1993. However, it was her role as a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother that truly defined her. She cherished the simple pleasure of lunches spent with her close-knit group of friends from Magnetics. Her love for her family and friends was her guiding principle, and she held those bonds dear to her heart.
She is survived by her daughters, Denise (Michael) Achezinski of Butler, PA and Cindy (Dennis) Corbett of Butler, PA; her daughter-in-law, Carolyn Cooper of Evans, West Virginia; her grandchildren, Heather Corbett, Brian Achezinski, and Cory (Rebecca) Achezinski; as well as her great-grandchildren, Aiden, Hank, Tessa, and Kaden; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Maxine was preceded in death by her son, Gary Cooper; her brothers, Noble and William Cochran; as well as her sisters, Imogene Himrod, Margaret Rent, and Helen Furner.
Friends and family will be received on Tuesday, July 25, 2023 from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Thompson Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, PA 16001. A funeral will immediately follow the visitation at 3:00 p.m..
Burial will take place at Greenlawn Burial Estates.
