The mayor of the City of Butler will mount a write-in campaign for reelection.
Butler City Mayor Tom Donaldson officially announced Friday afternoon on WISR 680 AM’s It’s Your Turn with Dave Malarkey that he is encouraging voters to write him in on the fall ballot.
Local businessman Ben Smith won the Republican nomination with 53% of the vote in May’s primary election. 32% of Republican voters cast a ballot for Donaldson in the May primary. Smith will appear on the general election ballot along with Democratic candidate Jamie Goehring. Voters interested in electing Donaldson to a second term will need to write the current mayor’s name on their ballot.
The fall election is scheduled for November 7th.
