Mitzi M. Morgan, 90, of Beaver Falls, formerly of Butler, passed away Tuesday, June 3, 2025 at Good Samaritan Hospice in Wexford.
She was born August 26, 1934 in Johnstown, PA, the daughter of the late Harry Melvin McDowell and Helen (Allen) McDowell.
Mitzi studied math education at Indiana State Teachers College and taught high school math at East Brady, where she met her husband, Wayne R. Morgan, who was teaching business courses there. They made their home in Butler and raised three children. Mitzi worked at drug stores in downtown Butler and enjoyed years teaching in the pool at the YMCA. The pool was one of her happy places.
Church was her other happy place. Mitzi was a charter member of Westminster Church in 1975 and much of her life has centered around service and worship there. Recently she has been part of the congregation at Christ Presbyterian Church in Beaver Falls. A favorite saying of hers was “God is good, all the time and all the time, God is good.” Those words were on her lips even in her final illness.
In Mitzi’s last year, she enjoyed attending senior activities at the Life Beaver program. She enjoyed time there with both new friends she made and the staff.
Surviving are her daughter, Michelle (Bruce) Keeler of Beaver Falls; her sons, Hugh (Ronáta) Morgan and Ross Morgan, both of Butler; six grandchildren: Hannah, Abigail, Matthew, Christiana, Hunter, and Benjamin, and three great-grandchildren: Isabel, Henry, and Elanor. The toddlers brought her great joy.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Wayne R. Morgan, and a granddaughter, Lydia.
Friends will be received at Young Funeral Home, Ltd., 127 W. Jefferson St., Butler, on Tuesday, June 10, 2025 from 6-8 PM with services from Westminster Presbyterian Church, 420 N. Main St., Butler, on Wednesday, June 11th at 11 AM.
Private interment in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Butler, PA.
