13 teams have given potential free agents qualifying offers, which are worth $21 million over one year. Free agency officially began across Major League Baseball last evening. Last season all of the players given such offers, declined and became free agents. The players have until November 19th to decide.
The Pittsburgh Pirates declined the $15-million club option on left-handed starting pitcher Marco Gonzales, allowing him to become a free agent. He made only seven starts for the Bucs last season, ending the year on the Injured List.
