The Houston Astros defeated the Chicago White Sox 6-1 last night in the opening game of their American League Divisional Series. Lance McCullers pitched scoreless baseball into the seventh inning for the Astros. Game two is tonight in Houston beginning this afternoon at 2:07pm.
Tampa Bay defeated the Boston Red Sox 5-0 last night in the other A.L. game. Rookie Randy Arozarena became the first major league player to hit a home run and steal home during a post-season game. It was the first time a player has stolen home in the postseason since Jackie Robinson did it for the Brooklyn Dodgers against the New York Yankees and catcher Yogi Berra in the 1955 World Series. Game 2 in the best-of-five series is tonight, with rookie Shane Baz starting for the Rays. He was a former Pirate prospect. Game time is 7:02pm. Both American League games will be televised on FS1.
The first of two National League Divisional Series will begin this afternoon when the Milwaukee Brewers host the Atlanta Braves. First pitch is just after 4:30pm. Another former Pirate, Charlie Morton, will start the opening game for the Braves.
Tonight at 9:37pm – the San Francisco Giants host the Los Angeles Dodgers.
