In an effort to promote interest in a new course, the Slippery Rock University Chemistry Department will stage a mock crime scene on campus later this week.
This display will be set up near the Advanced Technology and Science Hall on Thursday from 12:30 to 1:45 p.m.
University Police will help to oversee the staging of several pieces of evidence in a 16 by 16 foot space. Students who stop by will be able to try to evaluate the scene and submit a guess about what happened to solve the crime. A winning submission will receive a gift card to the campus bookstore.
An Introduction to Forensic Science course will be offered at SRU in the spring with 40 spots available. Those who register will have the chance to study fingerprint analysis and conduct luminol tests on trace amounts of blood.
