A two-year project to install solar panels at two different schools in the Moniteau School District is coming to completion this fall.
The first solar panel will be added to the roof of the high school and a second will be added to a field at Dassa McKinney Elementary School.
Aubrey Schnelle, Moniteau School District Superintendent, says the solar panels can provide cost efficiency and educational opportunities to the community.
“We’re looking at this as an educational opportunities for our students, especially at the elementary level having them in the fields so the students can access them. They will be in the field, so they can see what they are and what you can do with them.”
Schnelle said the district should receive the panels by September 1.
“In the long run, we’re hoping that this will save us money. But, this is definitely a good experience for our students and for the district community,” Schnelle said.l
