Those looking for an outdoor activity to enjoy with a canine companion later this week should check out Moraine State Park.
The Park Naturalist is leading a Dog Hike with the Humane Society from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Friday at the Pleasant Valley Non-Motorized Launch Area on the South Shore.
Participants will learn about dog safety on the trail and what to carry to keep the hike enjoyable. The Sunken Garden short loop trail is nearly two miles of easy, nature-filled activity.
Friendly dogs on a leash and up to date on shots are welcome. Owners must also pick up after dogs. Those planning to attend should wear sturdy hiking boots, dress for the weather, and bring drinking water.
