A couple of fun outdoor activities are planned for this week at Moraine State Park.
First, a Star Party is planned for Saturday night from 8 to 10 p.m. at the Lakeview Beach Area on the North Shore. Volunteers from the Amateur Astronomers Association of Pittsburgh will bring their privately owned telescopes to help participants learn how to spot a few planets and constellations. No smoking or flashlights at this free event.
Then, on Sunday from 1 to 3 p.m. an activity called Wetlands and Wildlife Paddle will be offered at the Pleasant Valley Non-Motorized Launch on the South Shore. Participants on this nature-based kayak adventure will learn basic kayak tips as they explore the lake and local wildlife. This activity is for ages 12 and older with life jackets required.
Pre-registration is required by calling the park office. Health guidelines will be observed with participants requested to bring a facemask.
