Anyone interested in helping at McConnells Mill State Park will have an opportunity this weekend but visitors to Moraine State Park should be aware of a traffic pattern change.
Volunteers are needed at McConnells Mill on Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon at the Kildoo Picnic area to help with weeding, staining, picking up litter, cleaning windows, or sweeping. Participants are asked to wear gloves, long pants, and closed-toe shoes as well as bring water and snacks. Tools will be provided. No experience necessary but those under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
The new traffic pattern at Moraine will be in effect Sunday morning from 7 a.m. to noon due to the Mighty Moraine Triathlon. North Shore Drive will be one-way from west-to-east, starting at West Park Road and ending at Mt. Union Road. All traffic will need to enter the park from the Bike Rental entrance off West Park Road. All traffic exiting the park will be required to follow the one-way traffic flow towards Mt. Union Road.
Park rangers will be there helping direct traffic. All areas of the park will remain open. Motorists are asked to follow the detour signs.
