Visitors are welcome to an event tonight at a local state park that will focus on a unique bird.
Moraine State Park is hosting a Woodcock Walk from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Pavilion #7 at the McDanel’s Launch Area on the North Shore.
During the event, participants will learn more about the American Woodcock, which is also known as a timberdoodle, night partridge, big-eye, bogsucker, and mudsnipe. A guest speaker will also discuss the habitat creation work that is occurring at Moraine.
Following the presentation, the park naturalists and local members of the Audubon Society bird chapter will lead a short hike in search of Woodcocks who may even be performing their spring mating ritual.
