A local state park will offer an event later this week for those interested in learning more about regional water birds.
Moraine State Park is presenting Wood Duck Wonders from 10 to 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday at Pavilion 7 McDanel’s Launch Area on the North Shore.
A volunteer representative of a local outdoor education organization will explain how the hatching rate for ducks is up to about 650 as a result of many wood duck nest boxes at Lake Arthur.
Also, more information will be provided about assistance needed from volunteers in order to help cavity nesting birds like bluebirds and tree swallows.
