More details have emerged about the officer-involved accident earlier this week in Lancaster Township.
The crash occurred Tuesday afternoon on I-79 near mile marker 91 in the northbound lane around 4 p.m.
Our news partners at WPXI report that the New Sewickley Police officer was the one that caused the accident. According to police, the officer lost control of his car, crossed the median and struck an SUV driven by a 68-year-old Erie woman.
She is reportedly in critical condition. The officer was treated and released.
