Police are providing more information on the crash that shut down a portion of Route 422 earlier this week.
The three vehicle crash happened Wednesday afternoon just after 4 p.m. near the intersection with Dick Road in Franklin Township.
Police say fire crews were responding to a nearby house fire and working their way through traffic.
A vehicle driven by 53-year-old John Snow of Butler slowed down to get out of the way of the truck, but was hit from behind by 62-year-old Joyce Watt of Prospect. A third vehicle then collided into Watt’s car.
Watt was flown to a Pittsburgh trauma center with her injuries; Snow was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital with his injuries. The driver of the third vehicle suffered minor injuries, but was treated at the scene.
Police are investigating to see if alcohol played a role in the crash.
