The Slippery Rock University football team picked up additional preseason recognition with the team being ranked in the top 10 by both D2football.com and NCAA.com and four individual players being named to the D2football.com Elite 100 Watch List. The Rock were previously ranked No. 11 in the American Football Coaches Association preseason national poll, which is the ranking that will be used during the regular season. SRU was also picked 10th in the Lindy’s Sports preseason poll that was published earlier this summer. The Lindy’s publication also listed tight end Kam Kruzelyak and defensive back Josh Stokes as Preseason All-Americans.
In addition to the team rankings, The Rock also had four players earn preseason recognition from D2football.com with quarterback Brayden Long, running back Idris Lawrence, wide receiver Rashawn Harvey and Stokes being named to the Elite 100 Watch List (formerly the D2football.com All-America team). The four selections are the most of any program in Super Region One. The Rock opens their season September 7th at home against New Haven.
