A motorist struck two utility poles and brought wires down onto the road in Middlesex Township Thursday afternoon.
The call came into the Butler County 911 Center around 1 p.m. Thursday for the poles struck on Davis Road.
Crews from Middlesex Township were among those arriving on the scene of what was originally described as a hit and run on one pole that was sheared off. The vehicle then hit another pole further down the road which brought down the wires. Approximately 14 customers are without power as of 1:30 p.m. with restoration expected later this afternoon.
The cause of the crash is unknown at this time but a male was reported to be sitting in the heavily damaged vehicle near the downed wires. Crews shut down a portion of Davis Road while West Penn power was dispatched to the scene.
