You may have heard recent reports of the so-called “murder hornet” appearing in the United States.
But scientists at Penn State University said you don’t have to worry about them here in the northeast.
An entomologist at the school’s College of Agricultural Sciences says that murder hornets, also known as Asian giant hornets, are not an immediate concern, nor are they likely to be a worry in Pennsylvania for a very long time.
Reports of murder hornets appearing in Washington state first surfaced in early May. The insect can grow more than two inches in length and a wingspan of three inches.
