The newest member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives has already made her way to Harrisburg to begin getting acclimated.
Republican, 48-year-old, Marci Mustello of Butler Township beat Democratic challenger 28-year-old Sam Doctor in this week’s primary election.
Mustello traveled to Harrisburg Wednesday to begin orientation.
“I’m ready to hit the ground running,” Mustello said in an interview Wednesday. “I’m heading to Harrisburg to get a quick orientation and to start fighting for good committee assignments that are really going to help our district. I’m ready to get to work.”
Mustello is not new to politics. She has served under U.S. Congressman Mike Kelly of Butler for the past eight years.
“I’m excited to get back to the constituents and helping the residents of the 11th district,” she said. “It’s just going to be another day at work- I won’t be going to Washington, D.C. now but rather to Harrisburg with the concerns of the residents.”
Mustello replaces former State Rep. Brian Ellis, who resigned earlier this year following allegations of sexual assault. He has not been charged.
He had held the seat for the past 15 years.
