The only contested local primary for a state house seat is in the 11th District, featuring an incumbent and local businessman.
Republican Marci Mustello is seeking her third elected term in office, but is facing a challenge once again by Butler resident Ryan Covert.
Mustello says she still has a lot of legislative priorities to accomplish.
“I’m seeking re-election because there is a lot of unfinished business that I have started with legislation that I’ve introduced and areas of interest that I have for not only the 11th District, but Butler County and the state of Pennsylvania,” Mustello said.
Covert meanwhile believes his business experience will suit him well in the role.
“I’ve been in the dishroom, the bar bouncer, and the executive that’s been running the business. So I understand all aspects,” Covert said. “I feel like being a regular guy that I have the heart and will to make this a really good run and put my full force behind it.”
The 11th Legislative District covers Butler Township, Butler City, and many portions of the southeastern part of the county.
