Nancy Kingan Thompson, 69, of Royal Palm Beach, Fla., formerly of Butler, passed away peacefully in her home on Monday, Sept. 4, 2023, while holding her husband’s hand. Her long battle with Alzheimer’s disease is finally over. Throughout her diagnosis, her husband, Bill, and daughter, Amanda, diligently and lovingly cared for her as her memories were fading and her health was failing.
Nancy was born on July 23, 1954, and was the daughter to the late Jean Hinchberger Kingan and William Guy Kingan. After Nancy graduated from Knoch High School in 1972 she went on to study nursing. Married on Sept. 7, 1975, Bill and Nancy would have celebrated 48 years of marriage this month. Nancy devoted her life to the care of others and that is evident in everything she did. She was a licensed practical nurse, a preschool teacher, a one-on-one aide for a student with disabilities, and a high school teacher’s aide. However, her most valued and rewarding career was that of a dedicated mother to her three precious daughters. In quiet moments, Nancy could always be found with a book in her hand. As much as she enjoyed reading, she loved babies even more. “She always smiled when she held a baby,” her husband would say.
Nancy is survived by her spouse, William “Bill” Alfred Thompson Jr., of Royal Palm Beach, Fla.; her children, Jessica (Greg) Anderson, of Parrish, Fla., Sabrina (Roel) Yambao, of Orlando, Fla., and Amanda McAllister, of Royal Palm Beach, Fla.; her granddaughters, Valerie, Lily, Emily, Natalie and Maci; her sister, Barbara (Mike) King, of Karns City; her brother, William (Mary) Kingan, of Butler; her uncle, Darrell (Eleanor) Kingan, of Butler; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws.
Nancy was preceded in death by her mother, Jean Hinchberger Kingan; father, William Guy Kingan; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and in-laws. Family and friends will be received from 6-8 PM on Friday, November 17, 2023 in the SPENCER D. GEIBEL FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, 140 NEW CASTLE RD. BUTLER, PA 16001, WWW.SPENCERDGEIBEL.COM. A funeral service will immediately follow in the funeral home.
