Nancy Skidmore, 81, of Chicora passed away on Sunday, July 14, 2024. She was born in Wilkinsburg on February 4, 1943, to the late Edgar and Mary (Doerr) Davis. Nancy graduated from Wilkinsburg High School in 1961 and attended Davis Elkins College in Elkins, WV. She retired from Magnetics in 2001 after 27 years and worked part time in her retirement at Family Pathways. Nancy was a lifeguard in her youth; her parents operated Silver Side Swimming pool during the 1950’s and 1960’s. Nancy, her siblings and mother spent the summers in Chicora life guarding and helping run the facility; her father came in on weekends to keep the mechanical aspects running. Anyone who grew up in the Chicora area has stories of the time spent at Silver Side. Nancy attended Butler First United Methodist Church. Her priority and joy in life was spending time with family, and she enjoyed attending the various activities and sporting events in which her grandchildren participated. Nancy was known for being very creative and talented. She was an expert seamstress, avid cook, and gardener. And enjoyed playing the piano, painting, flower arranging and decorating her home. Nancy made everyone feel welcome in her home and made everyone feel like family, always having a smile on her face and a kind word on lips. Nancy was the wife of Charles “Bill” Skidmore from their marriage in 1963 to 2008; mother of David (Brenda) Skidmore and Christopher (Kimberly) Skidmore; sister of Edgar “Ab” Davis, Janet Hegburg, Margie Galetka; sister-in-law of Jim (LaVerne) Skidmore; grandmother of Tyler (Megan), Amanda, Braden (Dawn), Lauren (Will) and Darin (Autumn). Along with her parents, Nancy was also preceded in death by her ex-husband, Bill Skidmore. Family and friends will be received on Tuesday, July 23, 2024, from 5-7 PM at the SPENCER D.
