As the weather continues to get nicer, people are planning trips out on the water.
National Safe Boating Week is underway and the BoatUS Foundation for Boating Safety and Clean Water wants to remind people about the importance of flotation devices and other water safety rules.
Tips to remember include wear a life jacket that fits, avoid alcohol use while operating a boat, and operators should wear an engine cutoff switch. According to the U.S. Coast Guard Boating Safety report, operator inattention, inexperience, and speed contribute to accidents.
