The Washington Nationals defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates 6-2 last night, in the opening game of a four-game series at PNC Park. Nationals starting pitcher Patrick Corbin held the Bucs to two runs on five hits while pitching into the sixth inning. He struck out eight.
Making his fifth career MLB start, Andre Jackson struggled in his four innings of work for the Pirates. Jackson retired the first six batters he faced before giving up a two-out, two-run home run to Washington shortstop CJ Abrams in the third. He allowed two more runs in the fourth inning. Abrams hit two home runs last night.
Pirates outfielder Bryan Reynolds extended his hitting streak to 12 games.
