A Marine veteran who served in the Vietnam War has been named as the Butler County Veteran of the Year.
Gary Neely was honored last week at the annual Veteran Luncheon last week at the American Legion Post 778.
Neely did two tours in Vietnam, once in the late 60s and again in the early 70s.
He earned three Purple Heart medals for his service after being wounded twice in battle, and once when his helicopter was hit by enemy gunfire.
The annual luncheon is a collaboration between Butler County Veteran Services and State Representative Marci Mustello.
