Neil Elsworth White, 88, of Evans City passed peacefully with his family by his side, on Tuesday, February 4, 2025. Neil was born in Imperial PA on June 5, 1936, to the late Wayne F. and Mary A. (Holmes) White.
Born into a farming family, he honorably served in the United States Coast Guard then went back to his farming roots for the rest of his life. Neil was a great example of a hard tireless worker; he passed this work ethic on to his children and grandchildren. Neil loved everything about life on the farm and always enjoyed visits from his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He thoroughly enjoyed giving them gator rides, tractor rides and letting them feed the cows and calves.
He was an avid Pittsburgh sports fan and armchair quarterback. Neil was always very happy when he had enough people around to play pinochle, even if it went well into the night and until the morning milking. If Neil didn’t have enough people for a pinochle game, he would settle for a game or two of cribbage. Even at 80 years of age, one of his favorite pastimes was to cut and split firewood. No matter what Neil was doing you could be sure he had a Pepsi in his hand.
Neil is survived by his three sons, Jeff (Lisa), Mitch (Liza), and Tim (Sue) White. He is also survived by his younger sister, Mary Louise White; 9 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
Along with his parents, Neil was preceded in death by 5 brothers, 1 sister, 1 Granddaughter and 1 grandson.
