A new piece of artwork will greet drivers into the City of Butler.
A metal sculpture of a horse has been placed in the green-space at the intersection of the Route 8 and the South Main Street Bridge in Butler.
After recently working with Rotary Club members to trim bushes and place a large amount of stone, Butler City Shade Tree Commission members like President Donna Smith felt something more was needed.
“We have been talking because it is just a grassy area that’s sitting there and we wanted something to welcome people to our city and our town,” Smith said.
The artwork was loaned to the Commission by Bill Secunda, who previously entered the piece in a competition in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Shade Tree members are also planning to plant six new trees in that area after securing a statewide grant.
“Four or five of them will go behind the horse. When they bloom, they will bloom pink. So they will behind the horse and it will be a half circle,” Smith said of the trees.
Additional trees will be planted at Institute Hill Park and Memorial Park.
