A new bill in Harrisburg looks to crack down on the sale of counterfeit goods that are sold online.
One of the bills sponsors, Republican State Senator Mike Regan says the proposed law would require high volume third party vendors to disclose certain information when selling online.
“With the evolution and growth of online market places, these stolen products are being sold to unsuspecting consumers who are funding an illegal operation while driving up costs to our retailers,” Regan said.
Regan says these sales are also hurting Pennsylvania tax revenue. He cited a study that found that Pennsylvania loses out on more than one billion in revenue because of organized retail crime.
