A bill to help Pennsylvania dairy farmers and milk haulers is one step closer to becoming law.
House Bill 186 would exempt milk trucks from weather-related commercial vehicle travel bans.
The administration of Governor Tom Wolf has the ability to issue disaster emergency declarations to ban commercial vehicles from interstate highways but the bill would allow milk haulers to obtain a decal from the PA Milk Marketing Board to make them exempt.
After passing through the PA House by a vote of 125-77, this bill now moves on to consideration by the state Senate. A similar measure was approved last legislative session but was vetoed by Governor Wolf.
