Top Republicans in the state Senate are pushing for new legislation that would allow slot-like machines inside establishments with a liquor license.
The law would bring financial relief to the state after shutdown orders affected overall revenues.
The machines could be used in more than 10,000 bars, restaurants, hotels, golf courses, and nonprofit social clubs.
It would also eliminate cash-paying skill game terminals from convenient stores and other establishments.
Governor Wolf said he opposes the bill in its current form, arguing that residents already have many gambling options.
