A new bill may soon make it illegal to drive with a cell phone in your hand.
The bill made was approved by the House Transportation Committee and Representative Rosemary Brown says it will increase safety on the roads.
“We’re not going to eliminate every crash, but the intent is to try and change the driver’s behavior and responsibility,” Brown said.
Under the proposal, drivers who violate the law would be subject to a $100 fine and it would also be considered a primary offense.
It’s unclear when it will go to the full House for a vote.
