New data released this week revealed that nearly a quarter of licensed drivers in Pennsylvania are now 65 years or older.
There are 8.9 million licensed drivers in PA right now, and just over 2 million of them are over 65.
Deputy Secretary of the Department of Aging Steve Horner says that number is expected to grow in the coming years.
“As our aging population continues to grow in Pennsylvania, the Wolf administration are committed to ensure that older adults have the information and resources needed to remain active in their communities,” Horner said.
Officials remind those who think it’s time to give up the car keys, that there are multiple transportation options available to them.
