Construction is underway for a new Butler Transit Authority park and ride lot and building addition.
The Authority’s board approved contract for a special inspector at a cost of between $6,000 and $14,000. According to the project’s construction management firm, additional independent inspections are necessary to comply with state requirements.
A total of nearly $3 million will be spent on this project with 80% of funding coming from the federal government and the other 20% from state and local sources.
Work at the Hollywood Drive building includes new bus shelters and waiting area along with a 47 space park and ride area for commuter service. It will also allow for true multi-modal access and display cases for memorabilia from Pullman Standard.
The project is expected to be completed by late fall or early winter.
