As Butler Area School District continues the process of re-opening Broad Street Elementary School, a new administrator has been hired to help lead the way.
During their Monday night meeting, the Butler School Board approved the hiring of Ms. Vanessa Boyd to the new position in anticipation of reopening the school for the 2021-22 school year.
Boyd has more than 20 years experience in education including as Community Schools Site Manager at Community Schools Pittsburgh Milliones University Prep 6-12 before coming to Butler.
“Broad Street Elementary School will give me an opportunity to build, and I love building,” Boyd said. “I’m very passionate about education and I’m very passionate about serving everyone, and I think that I’ll be able to have an opportunity to work in a place where I want to go to everyday.”
“I want to make a difference, and I want to work with everyone and collaborate so that we can be the bright shining light in the community. And I saw Broad Street Elementary as an opportunity to be part of the growing work to create something completely spectacular,” Boyd added.
Before beginning at Broad Street next year, Boyd will take over as Assistant Principal at Center Township Elementary the rest of this year to allow for the previous Assistant Principal Chad Broman to shift into the role as the new Principal at Summit Township Elementary School.
