Pittsburgh International Airport is now the first airport in the country to allow the public inside without an airline ticket.
Starting this morning, the public can now access gates, shops and restaurants beyond the security checkpoint even if they’re not flying that day.
The program is called myPITpass and it’s part of a Transportation Security Administration pilot program.
Visitors will still have to go through security as if they were about to board a plane. You have to show a valid photo ID and have your name vetted against the No Fly list.
Currently, visitors can only get passes Monday-Friday from 9am to 5 pm, with the possibility of additional hours and weekends in the future.
