The first of the College Football Playoff quarterfinal games begin tonight when Penn State and Boise State meet in the Fiesta Bowl. Kick-off in Glendale, Arizona is 7:30pm. The Nittany Lions are favored by 11-1/2 points.
( The big challenge for the Penn State defense tonight – will be slowing Broncos running back Ashton Jeanty. The Heisman Trophy finalist has rushed for 2,497 yards this season, including 1,882 yards after contact ).
Other College Bowl Games today:
–Michigan and Alabama meet in the ReliaQuest Bowl at noon on ESPN.
–Louisville will face Washington in the Sun Bowl at 2pm on CBS.
–Illinois and South Carolina square off in the Citrus Bowl at 3pm on ABC.
–Baylor and LSU kick-off at 3:30pm on ESPN in the Texas Bowl.
New Year’s Day College Football Playoff quarterfinal games:
–Texas and Arizona State meet in the Peach Bowl at 1pm. (The Longhorns are favored by 13 points.)
–Oregon and Ohio State meet for the second time this season –in the Rose Bowl at 5pm. (The Buckeyes are favored by 2-1/2 points. The Ducks defeated Ohio State in Big Ten play 32-31 back on October 12th. )
–Notre Dame and Georgia play in the Sugar Bowl at 8:45pm. (Georgia is favored by one point).
