NFL coaches can begin working from team facilities as of today. All coaches count toward a maximum number of 100 club employees at team facilities. Coaches like Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin have been working remotely from home since March.
The NHL said Thursday that teams can reopen their facilities and players can start having limited and voluntary group workouts starting on Monday. They’ll be able to skate in groups of up to six at a time. The league also said that under its plan for return to play, every playoff series will be a best-of-seven format AFTER the initial qualifying round and teams will be re-seeded throughout. The Pittsburgh Penguins are one of the play-in teams who will play a best-of-five series to set the final 16 teams.
The Penguins announced Thursday that one of the team’s players has tested positive for the coronavirus. The unidentified player was not in Pittsburgh – and has fully recovered.
The NBA’s Board of Governors approved a 22-team format for returning to play next month at the Walt Disney World resort in a 29-1 vote yesterday. The Players Association is set to vote today on the plan, under which teams will play an eight-game slate of games starting July 31st at the ESPN Wide World of Sports complex that will help determine playoff seeding. There could also be a play-in tournament for the final spot in the Eastern and Western Conferences for the postseason. The teams will stay, practice and play at Disney and the NBA Finals will likely go into October.
