The NHL draft lottery will be held tonight at 6:30pm. This will determine the team that receives the top overall draft selection in late June. The Penguins had the 14th-worst record this season, and can only move up a total of 10 spots based on NHL rules. They have a 1.5 % chance of doing so. If they receive a top-10 selection, the Pens can elect to transfer their 2025 #1 selection to San Jose, who would receive the teams top selection in June as part of the trade that brought Erik Karlsson to Pittsburgh.
San Jose has the best odds of receiving the NHL’s top pick at 18.5%. Chicago and Anaheim are next.
