Nichole “Nickie” Jeanne Barnhart Weller, age 77, of Portersville, passed peacefully into the arms of her loving Savior on Saturday, May 3, 2025 after a sudden hospitalization in Butler Memorial Hospital.
Born March 26, 1948 in Ellwood City; she was the daughter of Harold Eugene and Bonnie Bell Bauder Barnhart.
Nickie faithfully attended the Portersville Bible Church, where she was active in Dorcas Circle Woman’s Group and volunteered with Vacation Bible School. Her kindness will be remembered for many times she hosted and entertained guests of the Church and her volunteering with church dinners and many church functions.
She began her career as a secretary at Slippery Rock University, she also worked as a secretary for Ellwood Area School District, receptionist and office manager at the former Rose Point Chiropractic, and retired as a Bank Teller at the First National Bank in Prospect.
She enjoyed gardening and taking care of the cats on the farm.
While she had many jobs in her life, her greatest joy was that of being “Nana” to her four grandchildren. She will be remembered for their Tea Parties and building Legos, along with her attending their family plays, concerts, and school programs.
She is survived by her children David Todd (Traci) Weller of New Galilee, Travis (Beth) Weller of Grove City; grandchildren Hannah Nichole Weller, Abigail Marion Weller, Amelia Sue Weller, Liam David Weller; her father Harold Barnhart of New Castle; and her sister Faith (Dale) Brenneman of New Castle.
She was preceded in death by her husband David John Weller, whom she married October 20, 1967 and who passed away on October 19, 2024; and her mother Bonnie Barnhart.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Sunday, May 25, 2025, at the Portersville Bible Church, 156 East Portersville Road, Portersville. The family will receive friends from 2pm until the time of service at 4pm.
In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made to the City Rescue Mission, 319 S Croton Ave., PO Box 965, New Castle, PA 16103-0965.
