As Nippon and U.S. Steel work to save their sale, another lawsuit has been filed against a local steelmaker.
After filing a suit against the U.S. government Monday, both organizations filed a separate suit against Cleveland Cliffs CEO Lourenco Goncalves and United Steelworkers President David McCall.
The suit alleges they “coordinated a series of anticompetitive and racketeering activities illegally designed to prevent any party other than Cliffs from acquiring U.S. Steel.”
Goncalves issued a statement saying that U.S. Steel and Nippon are playing “the blame game in a desperate attempt to distract from their own failures.”
