A recent breach of a nationwide software system did not reveal Butler County Community College student information.
The investigation into the breach of the National Student Clearinghouse made public in July found that although BC3 was one of many institutions affected, no BC3 student information was compromised.
The National Student Clearinghouse provides a range of higher education data and research services to various agencies and lenders using a third party software program.
The college is federally required to report enrollment and degree information such as student names, addresses, dates of birth, social security numbers, and programs of study.
BC3 officials also add that the college’s servers and infrastructure were not compromised and the college does not use the software program that was breached.
