A man is displaced after an apartment fire Thursday in downtown Butler.
It happened at a duplex in the 300 block of East Penn Street just after 10 a.m.
Butler Joint Fire Chief Chris Switala was one of the first on the scene.
“The fire started in the kitchen due to heating up oil on the stove,” Switala said. “The fire ignited and there was smoke damage throughout the apartment unit.”
Switala said crews quickly got the fire under control after their arrival.
He estimated there was about $10,000 in damages.
The resident was displaced and is currently being assisted by the Red Cross.
