New research shows that no-till farming may also be helping fight climate change.
A recent study by Penn State found that utilizing no-till farming may have emitted less nitrous oxide gas compared to other tilled soil.
Penn State researchers say the nitrous oxide is 300 times more potent than carbon dioxide. They add that if the nitrous oxide remains in the soil, it would not contribute to the greenhouse effect.
No-till farming has become more popular over time as scientists say it reduces erosion and lessens water and nutrient run-off.
