Norman E. Risinger, 82, of Hooker Rd., Karns City, passed away unexpectedly of natural causes Thursday morning, January 17, 2019 at his home.
Norman was born in Karns City on August 14, 1936. He was the son of the late John and Nellie Jordan Risinger.
He attended Karns City Schools and was of the Baptist faith.
Norman was a retired coal miner. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and working outside.
He is survived by his wife, Gloria M. Fleeger Risinger, whom he married July 2, 1960 in Chicora. Also surviving are two children, Beverly A. Risinger and her fiancé, Jurgen, and Thomas E. Risinger, both of Karns City; three grandchildren, David Morrison and his wife, Melissa, of Emlenton, Joshua Morrison and his wife, Kelsey, of Butler, and Katrina Mangini of Vandergrift; five great grandchildren; a brother, Melvin Risinger and his wife, Julia, of West Freedom, as well as a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded by a son, Gary Risinger who died in 2004 and a brother, Leonard Risinger.
Friends will be received at the Hile Funeral Home of Karns City from 1 – 3 and 6 – 8 p.m. Monday. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday from the funeral home with the Rev. Paul DeBacco, pastor of the Crisswell Bible Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will be in Bear Creek Cemetery, Petrolia.
