Norman Gerald Summerville,78 of Oakland Township, Butler passed away on Wednesday, December 9, 2020 at his lifelong homestead surrounded by his loving family. Born September 19, 1942 in Butler to the late E. Paul & Pauline Summerville.
Norman worked at Pullman Standard as a Hookon until the plant closed. He then went on to work as a meat cutter at various meat shops. Then started driving school bus after his retirement. He was a member of First United Methodist Church. He was a lifetime member of Oneida Valley VFD. He was an Oakland Township Supervisor. Norm was a proud member of AA for 38 years. He enjoyed farming on his John Deere Tractor, hunting, fishing, and spending time at his outside “office.”
Surviving are his wife, Erma Jean (Seiler) Summerville whom he married on October 12, 1963 for 57 years; five children, Luther (Jodi) Summerville, Brian Summerville, Lisa Patten, Beth (Chris) Mennor, and Natalie (Nathan) Clauser, all of Butler; nine grandchildren Heidi Patten, Kelsie (Joshua) Stransky, Carley Patten, Abby (George) Kummer, Evan Mennor, Parker Clauser, Riley Clauser, Francine So, and Kaleb Waldor. Four great grandchildren Addison and Finely Kummer, Emersynn Stransky, Klayton Adkins.
He is also survived by three sisters Marie Olszewski of Erwin, Marilyn (Hal) Callihan of Mercer and Carolyn (Willie) Powell of Cabot; three sister in laws Patty Summerville, Anna Metcalf, and Phyllis Summerville and numerous nieces and nephews.
Norman was preceeded in death by six brothers Gene, Merle, Lowell, George, Bradley, and Alan.
The family would like to thank the numerous doctors, and staff of ICU, 5 Main and 6 Main at Butler Memorial Hospital, for their quality care while Norman was in the hospital. A special thank you to Good Samaritan Home Hospice for their exceptional care while at his home.
