A nurse in a Jackson Township personal care facility has been charged after not giving residents their prescribed medication.
After police spoke with three residents and nursing staff leadership at The Grove at Harmony Personal Care Facility, 57-year-old Rebecca McCartney of Evans City is facing several charges.
Charging documents allege that McCartney would not give certain prescription pills to residents, while still removing them from storage. Two highly cognitive residents at the facility claimed they never received certain prescriptions.
Police were able to connect the missing medications to McCartney through records of where the pills were stored.
It’s alleged that McCartney would remove all the necessary pills from storage and place them in cup by the resident’s bedside as they slept. But when three residents went to take the prescription they were not in the cup. Although, records would indicate they were given to the patient.
Security footage also confirmed missing prescription pills.
McCartney is facing several charges including Abuse of Care Dependent Person and possession of a control substance.
