Even with the National Weather Service urging caution for those who are burning Monday, crews were busy battling several local fires.
Calls started coming into the Butler County 911 Center shortly after 2 p.m. with a brush fire back a lane nears Penn’s Colony.
Shortly after 3 p.m. woods near the highway on fire was reported along Little Creek Road in Lancaster Township. That was followed shortly after by a brush fire along Rolling Mills Drive in Middlesex Township as well as another in Parker Township that spread to a vehicle.
Officials say the mix of low humidity along with windy conditions make it ripe for brush fires to begin.
