A number of local officials gathered in the Pullman Business Park to celebrate the groundbreaking of a major project to update Hansen Avenue.
Shovels were put into the ground last Friday morning to mark the beginning of a project to turn Hansen Avenue and Whitestown Road into a four-way intersection into the Pullman Business Park.
State Representative Marci Mustello says this will be a big safety improvement.
“It’s going to make it a lot safer pulling out of Armco Drive onto Hansen Avenue with the trucks coming out of Cleveland Cliffs and making those dangerous turns,” Mustello said.
Butler County Commissioner Leslie Osche believes the new intersection combined with the recreation facility offers great hope to the area. “I think you’re going to see some really neat things start to happen as this builds out. I’m just excited because I think of the history of Lyndora and how this mill started. I think the rebirth of all of that is exciting,” Osche said.
The turf is expected to be installed on the field in the next month or so according to township officials.
Construction is expected to begin next Monday with the project wrapping up in October.
