Butler County officials provided a tour of the diversity and economic development of the local area last week for a new regional official.
Friday the Butler County Commissioners, along with Butler County Chief of Economic Development and Planning Mark Gordon, and U.S. Congressman Mike Kelly provided the tour to new Executive Director for the Southwestern Pennsylvania Commission Vincent Valdes.
Stops included construction work to improve the Route 228 corridor and the UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex in Cranberry Township.
“We wanted to show the diversity of the county,” Gordon said.
The Commission can help to secure funding for projects like those currently underway in the county but Valdes stressed that local governments need to be a reliable partner to execute the planning.
“I think it’s remarkable what I’ve seen here,” Valdes said. “I’m taken by the vision.”
